Miller Eyes Parking Lot Tax

Socialist Capers run Awry.
As soon as Mayor Miller is "freshly armed with new taxing powers by Queen's Park", the Mayor of Toronto is again trying to put a hamper on economic well being in the city. With political patronage from the provincial liberals, the socialist Miller will try to take money from people who try to earn it just for his own personal political gain. How can he say that he is repersenting all of Toronto when just 22% who work in Toronto use public transportation to get there. For the rest of us, this means that we must feel Miller's wrath every time we enter the city. In the article, Miller claims that all of this is because of climate change. Canada's role in the environment has been touched on "Time for the Right" before but have not discussed the liberal fad of environmentalism before and its ravages on private commerce. In the main article defending the proposed tax, Miller has claimed that this tax is due to "the survey, by the environmental groups Germanwatch and Climate Action Network-Europe, (that) ranked Canada in 51st place, between Thailand and Kazakhstan, but ahead of the United States and China." The results of the survey are here with Sweden ranking on top. This country was ranked on top because "In Stockholm, one-quarter of city buses run on ethanol or biogas." Also becuase the Swedish government has been trying to stamp out all private ownership of cars to replace with public transport. This has been nothing short of socialist capers run awry by trying to get rid of all private ownership of automobiles in the name of the "environment" in order to eliminate free will and enterprise and settle for whatever someone else will give us. Mayor Miller is quoted in the article by stating "new strategies" will be used to deal with this problem. There are two lessons to take from this article, the first is that "new taxing powers" should never be given to anyone, especially socialists, the second is that in this example, Miller is trying to win over provincial liberal friends by attempting to take away all cars in Toronto.

Some of us actually agree with getting rid of cars. It comes down to a couple questions:
a) do you agree that climate change is happening?
b) do you agree that climate change is caused in large part by automobiles?

If a person answers "yes" to both these questions, the logical answer is to get rid of cars.
(and heck, besides the climate, cars are a travesty for lots of reasons, suburban sprawl, turning what should be "public space" into parking lots and motorways, air pollution, etc etc).

Climate change is evident but to think that humans contribute to it is a very naive thought. The Earth is a wide expanse that we are just only just beginning to figure out. New species are being "discovered" that have been around for millennia. Most of this contribution is made from natural phenomenon that is beyond our control (volcano ash, forest fires, natural disasters) and the contribution by mankind is infinitesimal in comparison.

This all leads to the point of the article that liberals will try to control every facet of our lives even if it is foolish just to exercise political power for the harm of society. Climate change laws are literally humans trying to control the weather. It would be a nice thought for liberals but in the real world does not make sense. Nature is a powerful force that liberals do not understand and try to sell as a political campaign to people like you who are obviously concerned with the issue.

I hope this clears up some things and thank you for your comment. I will try to write an article on this later as I should have explained this more in the original article.

Yeah, let's try it without cars - we'll be hip-deep in horse droppings, fresh anything from more than fifty miles away will be prohibitively expensive, but it won't matter because we'll all be working sixteen hours a day just to survive.

If you want to get an early view of the situation, try moving to rural Tanzania or somewhere similar, and see how long you enjoy it.
